Understanding Neglect - Level 2 - face to face:

This course is for any professional whose role may involve contact with children, including those in social care, ealy help, health (primary care, mental health, accident and emergency, midwifery, health visiting, sexual health), police, adoption services, fostering services, education (early years, child minders, primary schools, secondary schools, specialist provision, colleges, sixth forms), housing and any other relevant services in contact with children, young people, parent(s) or carer(s). 

 

Learning outcomes:

  • To develop an understanding of what constitutes as neglect and the impact upon children and young people.
  • To have an understanding of all 6 types of neglect and recognise the signs to help with the early identification of neglect.
  • To develop an understanding of neglect in relation to child development.
  • To recognise and have knowledge of the signs and impact on children and young people who are, or maybe neglected.
  • To understand your professional role in assessing neglect and thinking about the ‘now what?’
  • To understand how professional dangerousness impacts on practice.
  • To reflect & learn from case reviews to improve practice.
