Trauma results from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as harmful or life threatening. While unique to the individual, generally the experience of trauma can cause lasting adverse effects, limiting the ability to function and achieve mental, physical, social, emotional or spiritual well-being.
Learning Objectives
* Explore the impact of secure attachment on development and consider how developmental trauma can impact attachment patterns and neurobiology.
*introduce principles of therapeutic responses – DDP/ PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, empathy)
*understanding shame, fear and Rage
*exploring narratives of a child’s life and helping a child make sense of emotions
*Consider the role of parents and carers to support children who have experienced trauma to feel safe
